Nicest Thing Ever Said About Mayor Bloomberg

Posted by Mike on December 21, 2005

Chief Union thug Roger Tooussaint accused Mayor Bloomberg of engaging in “Giuliani-style terror to intimidate transit workers.” I wish. I don’t think Mayor Bloomberg deserves that much praise, at least not until he invokes the Reagan doctrine as applied to illegal strikes.

I Hope It’s True, but It’s Not

Posted by Ryan on December 21, 2005

Saddam gets beaten up! It would be a good start, but you know he’s just playing to the American media and Democratic sympathizers. I bet he wished he used his gun down in the spider hole back in the day!

I feel SO upset! I guess our guys aren’t hitting hard enough, and I guess they didn’t take notes from Abu Graib. This is sorely disappointing. American MP’s can beat him worse than this! I’m insulted.

Is anyone buying this? If so, please post! Id’ love to hear what you think!

A start of Fiscal Responsibility

Posted by Sal on December 21, 2005

The Republican Senate took the first step towards fiscal responsibility today when Vice President Dick Cheney cast the tiebreaking vote to cut spending by $39.7 Billion, sending the bill to President Bush for a signature. While this is pretty much pocket change for the Federal government, it is at least a start in the right direction from the constantly-expanding federal budgets of the past.

Later today, a vote on ANWR as part of the Defense appropriations bill, will also be taken. Stay tuned for updates and further Axis of Right commentary.

As part of a new tradition here at Axis of Right, below are the Republican Senators who voted against the Spending Cut.

Sen. Olympia Snowe, Maine, Sen Susan Collins, Maine, Sen. Gordon Smith, Oregon, Sen. Mike DeWine, Ohio, and Sen. Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island.

Each time there is a vote of significance, we will post the Republican defectors here (as well as any unexpected Democrat supporters, if any). Prior to election 2006, we will post a tally of each RINO (Republican in Name Only) and their votes against crucial legislation.

Update: The Senate Democrats, with the help of some Republicans, filibustered the Defense Appropriations bill with ANWR oil drilling attached. The RINO’s in this vote were:

Sen Mike DeWine, Ohio, Sen. Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island

Four Democrats also voted against the filibuster, and they deserve recognition as well:

Sen Mary Landreau, Louisiana, Sen Daniel Akaka, Hawaii, Sen Daniel Inouye, Hawaii, and Sen Ben Nelson, Nebraska.

Sen Bill Frist also voted for the filibuster in the 56-44 vote, but only for procedural reasons. So we were three votes away from breaking the filibuster, two of which were RINOs.
