LA Times Plays Age, Disability Card on McCain
Posted by Ryan on April 24, 2008
While the Democrats are in a locked Pyrrhic duel to the political death, the MSM (represented this time by the LA Times) has run this bigoted hit-piece on John McCain. It’s really sad that they’ve gone this low, yet it’s hypocritical at the same time.
The crux of the argument infers that McCain’s too old, sick and disabled to be President because of McCain’s tax-free disability pension he receives from the government.
Upon entering the Oval Office Ronald Reagan was already old, John Kennedy was already very sick, and Franklin D. Roosevelt was already disabled. Should none of these folks have been President because “questions have been raised” about their health status?
This is the second time the MSM have tried to outright disqualify John McCain from this race in an attempt to guarantee the Dems a victory in pure “gotcha” mold: remember the ridiculous questions about his birth eligibility? That’s what makes this both hypocritical and a little bit funny: should someones age or health demographic disqualify them if they’re Constitutionally eligible to become President? If we follow that logic then how about one’s race or gender, LA Times?
No, something tells me that I don’t think that’s a problem for the folks in that Left Coast newspaper’s editorial room. Nor should it be! I hope aged-Americans are paying attention to the media’s bias here. It’s not the first or the last time these questions will be raised before November.
