Is Colin Powell a Turncoat?

Posted by Ryan on August 13, 2008

Some inside info from Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard indicates that not only will Colin Powell eventually endorse Obama, but may even speak at the Convention!  Powell denies all of this to ABC and “Roll Call”, but in today’s crazy political environment where you have Republicans for Obama (maybe they’re still awash in his saintly glow, though it’s more likely they are a well-funded front group) and McCain entertaining Lieberman on his ticket, I don’t know what to believe!

Do you think Powell lied when he told ABC that he would not be going to the democrats convention? Obama also is now saying to get tickets for the convention that people have to do (I think I heard 10) so many hours of public work! LOL

Nothing surprises me! I think Powell has always been a litte on the bitter side since 2004.

Speaking of the convention, this one cracks me up: a shortage of limos for the liberals who will go to Denver for the Convention. Well, they could always find rickshaws or rent Priuses, but being holier than thou limosine liberals who don’t practice what they preach, they’ll be leaving their carbon footprint on the Rocky Mountain Region.

I’m pretty sure the republicans for obama group youre referencing here isn’t the one the Obama people are backing. There isn’t any mention of Chafee or the other elected officials on the site mentioned here.

I’m not sure what you mean by turncoat. Gen. Powell has always been his own man, not a party-line kind of guy. Some people who see the world as a dichotomy keep being surprised that he isn’t an ultra-Republican, but that’s something that we have known since the talk of him as Bob Dole’s running mate.
