Roll Call Vote at the Democrat National Convention

Posted by Mike on August 14, 2008

The 2008 Democrat National Convention will feature something that hasn’t been seen at a major party convention since 1992, a roll call vote. Still fuming over the cancellation of their candidate’s coronation, supporters of Obama’s primary opponent, She Who Must Not Be Named, will now have the opportunity to put their PUMA credentials on full display during a state-by-state roll call vote at the Democrat Convention.

Conventions used to always have roll call votes, and almost always more than one, because nominations were won or lost at the conventions. Ever since the primary process emerged as the candidate-selection process, party conventions morphed into showcases of party unity. With all 57 states (who am I to question “The One?”) dividing their votes between Obama and SWMNBN, there will be no illusion of Democrat unity this year. Not unless Obama puts the witch on his ticket.
