McCain Slams NBC’s Bias

Posted by Ryan on August 18, 2008

I was wondering when McCain’s campaign was going to take the obvious pro-Obama MSM bias out of the realm of humor and into the realm of substance.  Well, his campaign finally took the worst of the bunch, NBC, to task, sending a letter to the President of NBC, Steve Capus!

I was flipping through the morning talk yesterday and I heard Andrea Mitchell (Greenspan) actually accuse McCain of having a heads-up on the Saddleback Church forum since McCain answered the questions so quickly.  It couldn’t be because McCain knows what he believes and can articulate it succinctly, he must have cheated!  I accepted the bias, but the McCain camp did not… and good for them!

Here’s an excerpt from the letter:

Mitchell: “The Obama people must feel that he didn’t do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because what they are putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well-prepared.” (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 8/17/08 )

Make no mistake: This is a serious charge. Andrea Mitchell is repeating, uncritically, a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated in last night’s forum at Saddleback Church.

This isn’t whining on the part of the McCain campaign, it’s a legitimate gripe.  It’s the Obama folks that are whining about the fact that their guy lost this round, this time with NBC parroting the Obama campaign’s dictates.

Sweet “Sixteen”?

Posted by Ryan on August 14, 2008

I’ve been watching some of the Olympic coverage on part of Obama’s media network, NBC.  All the human interest stories make me puke so I tend to flip around between “Family Guy” reruns and “Hannity and Colmes” before finally settling on the Olympics, which had the US Women’s Gymnastics team going up against China and Russia the other night.  So I watched.

Now, we have some young-looking girls on our team (Shawn Johnson, for example, looks about 12, but is really 16).  So I heard with interest that one has to be at least 16 during the year the Olympics take place in order to compete.  OK, teaching 16 year olds, I know some look very young, but when the Chinese girls got up there I was absolutely shocked that they weren’t all 13.

Well, some of them might be!

One girl was actually listed as 13 last year.  Suddenly, when pressed, her new birthday is January 1, 1992, making her 16 years old this year!  I didn’t know China was such an amazing place that time had special rules!  In reality, our team should have performed better (obviously having more experience than some of their opponents).  But, it is a legitimate gripe — if China cheated, they should face the consequences.

White House Smacksdown NBC

Posted by Ryan on May 19, 2008

White House counsel Ed Gillespie had some tough words for NBC after they disingenuously edited an interview with President Bush which indicated that the President accepted a negative premise on the appeasement issue when the President did not.

But what I love about the letter sent to NBC is Gillespie’s memory of two years ago when NBC was the first to declare Iraq’s sectarian strife a civil war.  Gillespie’s take: so does NBC still believe Iraq is in a civil war or has that civil war ended?

Nice!  Way to call ’em on it!  I love how a basic memory and facts really miff the MSM sometimes. I wish Dubya and his crowd had been doing this for seven years rather than so intermittently.
