Tony Snow Dies at 53

Posted by Ryan on July 12, 2008

Former White House Press Secretary, radio talk-show host, moderator of “Fox News Sunday,” and former speechwriter for Bush 41, Tony Snow finally succumbed to the colon cancer he had been battling for a few years now when he died at about 2am Saturday morning at Georgetown University Hospital.  Although they had removed his colon a few years ago, the cancer nonetheless spread to his liver last year.  He leaves behind a wife, three children and many friends and admirers.

I’d been watching Tony Snow ever since my local cable finally carried Fox News back in 2000.  It was kind of awkward watching Chris Wallace take over for him as the moderator of “Fox News Sunday” a few years later.  Also, I remember Tony Snow filling for Rush once in a while when I was in college (Sean Hannity would also fill in from time to time, which happened to be my first exposure to both Hannity and Snow — thanks Rush for recognizing talent!).  As Press Secretary, it was so refreshing to see Snow strike back at the MSM who was unsuccessfully trying desperately to embarrass him and the White House like they did so effectively to Scott McClellan.

Like Tim Russert, this death is a huge loss to the media and culture as both were taken from us with so much potential left to be realized.

Rev. Wright Still “Stuck on Stupid”

Posted by Ryan on April 17, 2008

I know this story’s a little bit old, however, while cheering the Dem Debate last night, I heard Imus this morning picking on Fox News, specifically O’Reilly and Hannity, using the recent phrase uttered by Obama’s reverend, Jeremiah Wright, at one of Wright’s friend’s funeral that O’Reilly and Hannity were both “forever stuck on stupid.”

Nice try, Reverend Wright, but give credit where credit’s due!

We all know “stuck on stupid” was a brilliant quip uttered by the straight-talking General Russel Honore in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, knocking the MSM for asking ridiculous questions:

Note to friends: please don’t knock Fox News at my funeral service — it’s kind of tacky and inappropriate.

The Wright Side of Obama

Posted by Ryan on March 14, 2008

Sean Hannity has been beating the drum all week on his radio show  as well as his TV show with the pitiful Alan Colmes about the connection between radical Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama.  Anyone who listens to Sean knows that the “Stop [She Who Must Not Be Named] Express” has begun to morph into the “Stop Obama Express,” with all the hard-hitting scrutiny that the MSM should be giving Obama.

Well, the Wall Street Journal Online and the Washington Post among others have picked up the story and are running with it.  Obama himself is distancing himself from the radical Wright who has said numerous inflammatory remarks about AIDS, 9/11, white racism in America, and so on.  Wright’s views are appalling and could seriously blemish Obama’s image and campaign as this story could have legs.  Remember that it was in March 2004 when “flip-flopper” came into our political lexicon over that pesky $87 million supplemental package.

Remember that Obama has been in this race for President since February 11, 2007.  It is now March 14, 2008.  Does anyone really believe that if he were a Republican and that Republican had a crazy, radical, anger-filled, racist preacher for the last 20 years that these kinds of connections would have been unvetted in 13 months of a national campaign for commander-in-chief?  Perhaps the MSM is shot itself in the foot by giving Obama a pass for so long.
